On Sunday, December 30, 1979 at 12:05 am the body of Suzanne Powell, a 20 year old white female, was found at the Atlantic Bank at 3838 NW 13 St. (now known as Wells Fargo) by two women customers. Powell was found shot in her vehicle. She worked for the Majik Market at 4105 NW 13 St. and was making a night deposit for the store when she was killed. On November 6th 1979 at approximately 2:00 a.m., a 25 year old Arcadia woman, Adele Marie Easterly was found shot to death at The Farm Store located on U.S. 17 in Ridge Harbor. She was an Assistant Manager. A deputy checking out a suspicious vehicle discovered the brutal murder. Easterly was shot twice with a shotgun. The killer escaped with approximately $7.34 from the store. Carmel Sue Whitacre, age 26, went missing on August 9, 1970. After being released from the NH State Hospital for a weekend visit with her husband in Portsmouth, she failed to return to hospital grounds. On October 27, 1979, hunters found her skeletal remains a short distance off of Route. 43 in Northwood, NH. The circumstances surrounding her death are considered suspicious.
