Cold Case Spotlight

Clifford Backmann, 56, was working alone finishing some construction on an office condominium at 6960 Bonneval Road near the intersection of Philips Highway and J. Turner Butler Boulevard on Saturday, October 10, 2009 when an unknown African American male robbed and shot him. He was able to call 911 and give some details before he died, but not enough to catch his killer. On February 14, 1989, the body of Darryl Walker, w/m 26 years of age, was found deceased in the parking lot of Lil’ Champ convenience store on C.R. 427 at General Hutchison Parkway. Walker was on the pay phone with a friend at approximately 11:25 p.m., when the friend heard what sounded like gunshots. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the chest. On April 16, 1974, the badly decomposed body of a female was found in a wooded area off of Rte. 124 in Marlborough. It is estimated that the female was approximately 19-30 years old, 5'4" tall with a stocky build. It is believed the remains may have been there since the latter part of 1973.
