On Friday, March 31, 1978 at approximately 1:00 am, Frank Pepper was found in his home suffering from wounds responsible for his death. He had last been seen alive by his family in their home in the 3700 block of South Plaza Trail a few hours prior to his death. Mr. Pepper’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. The cause of death is homicide. The victim was active duty U.S. Navy. Frank Pepper was a thin built, 32 year old black male who was 6’ 4’’ tall weighing 171 pounds. He had brown eyes, black hair, and a full beard at the time of his death.

On Monday, February 18, 1991 at 10:15 pm, Michele Pore was seen by friends leaving a restaurant, Paesano, near the intersection of Lynnhaven Parkway and Virginia Beach Blvd. to return to her business. Her office building is located in the 600 block of Lynnhaven Parkway. She was known to work late hours. She was seen alone getting into her Maroon Dodge Aeries “K” car bearing Virginia License and driving out of the parking lot. On Tuesday, February 19, 1991, a family member reported Michele missing after she had not returned home from work the previous day. Her vehicle was found in the parking lot of the business where she was employed. Police found her body in the trunk of the car deceased. Michele’s body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. The death was ruled a homicide. Michele was a 44 year old white female who had brown shoulder length hair, brown eyes and was 5’ 0’’ tall weighing 165 pounds.

On Thursday, February 22, 1990 between 3:30 and 4:30 pm, Anunciacion Imperial, Asian Female, was working alone as the evening clerk at the Fil-Am Grocery Store when she was brutally murdered. Robbery appears to be the motive. The Fil-Am Grocery Store is located in the 900 block of Kempsville Road in the Providence Square Shopping Center in the Kempsville section of Virginia Beach. A black male between 30 and 45 years of age was seen in the area a short time before and after the victim was found. He was described by witnesses as standing about 5’ 10’’ tall with a thin muscular build and a weathered look. He was wearing a brown or tan colored uniform. Mrs. Imperial was a 56 year old Filipino female who had brown eyes, black with some gray hair. She was 4’ 11’’ tall weighing 147 pounds.

On February 26, 1987 at 8:45 am, the body of Velma Peregory, 57, was found inside her locked apartment located in the 3500 block of Francis Land Court. She had last been seen on February 25, 1987 at about 7:45 am near her apartment located in the Rose Hall Apartment complex. A search of the scene failed to reveal a motive for this murder. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. The cause of death was determined to be the result of a gunshot. The manner of death is a homicide. Velma was a 57 year old retiree who was 5’ 7’’ tall weighing 145 pounds. She had grey shoulder length hair and brown eyes.

On Wednesday, January 16, 1991, a construction worker discovered a green canvass military style duffle bag lying in a ditch along the 700 block of General Booth Blvd. less than a mile from the Virginia Marine Science Museum which was under construction at the time. The bag was opened and the gruesome discovery of a human body inside. The bag and body were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office where the death was ruled a homicide. The body was identified as Karen Ann Wheeler, a 21 year old white female who had blonde dyed hair and blue eyes. She was described as thin, weighing about 120 pounds. She had blond hair, blue eyes and was about 5’1’’ tall with a scar on her left hand. Karen Wheeler had last been seen on November 29, 1990. She lived and hung out at the oceanfront area of Virginia Beach.

On Thursday, January 9, 1975 at approximately 7:20 pm a request for Police and Rescue to respond to the 800 block of Shurney Lane after a report of several gunshots were heard in the area. Upon arrival, Marshall Hamilton was found suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. Mr. Hamilton died from his injury. His body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office where his death was ruled a homicide. Several people were in the area when this murder occurred and may be able to provide information to this murder. Marshall Hamilton was a 64 year old black male who was a Septic Tank business owner and operator. He was 6’ 0’’ tall weighing 200 pounds at the time of his death. He had brown eyes, black and grey hair.

On Saturday January 24, 1970 the body of Ronald Eugene Keith was found in a field in the 3000 block of South Lynnhaven Road, across the street from Plaza Middle School. Several apartment buildings and businesses now occupy this field. Keith had been a missing person between October and January. The Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound. He had last been seen by his family on October 16, 1969 at approximately 11:00 pm. Mr. Keith was known to visit the following Tidewater cities, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Chesapeake. Ronald Keith was a black male who stood 5’ 8’’ tall weighing 140 pounds. He had brown eyes, black hair, and a medium complexion

On Friday, January 25, 1985, Lisa Ann Jolley was last seen sleeping in her apartment by her husband just before he left for work during the early morning hours. Together, they lived in the 5600 block of Barnaby Court. At approximately 5:00 pm, Mr. Jolley returned home to find his wife lying in a bath tub filled with water. Police were called to the scene and discovered the victim deceased and fully clothed. There did not appear to be any signs of forced entry into the home. Lisa’s body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. The cause of death is asphyxiation and the manner ruled a homicide. Lisa was a 20 year old dependent wife of an active duty U.S. Navy enlisted man. She was 5’ 7’’ tall weighing 177 pounds, with blue/grey eyes and blonde hair.

On Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at 8:30 am, a report of gunfire near the intersection of Old Virginia Beach Road and Barberton Drive was reported to the Virginia Beach 9-1-1. Police responded to the area and found a body of a black male lying in the roadway bleeding. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. The cause of death was due to a gunshot wound and the manner of death a homicide. Investigators were able to identify the victim as Shawn Gary John, a 34 year old who lived near the area of this murder. He was a black male who had brown eyes, black receding hair, 5’ 10’’ tall, and 190 pounds. He wore prescription glasses.
