Cold Case Spotlight

On August 15, 2013, the Lee County Sheriff Office received a call that a person was found in the area of Leah Court and Meadow Road in Lehigh Acres. Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a deceased male. Detectives arrived and assumed the investigation. The decedent was later identified as Kyle Byrtus: a white male with a date of birth of May 17, 1988. Kyle was a high school star track athlete and student at Fort Myers High School. The death was later determined to be a homicide. The investigation continues.

She was last seen driving a 1964 light blue Ford 4-door sedan, which was recovered on March 3, 1978, off Cleveland Heights Blvd. in Lakeland. On March 27, 1979, her skeletal remains were found in an open field northeast of Cleveland Heights Blvd. and Rolling Woods Lane in Lakeland. She had been shot in the head.
