A human skull and pelvis was found in a wooded area off of County Line Road by a hunter. The remains were sent to the C.A. Pound Human Identification Laboratory which found the bones were consistent with that of a black female between the ages of 30-40. No other identifying information was obtained. The skull did not show any signs of pre or post modem trauma. A BOLO was sent out nationwide with no results. On September 6, 2008 at approximately 0100 hours, armed subjects entered the "Dat’s Right Audio" Store while both Cabretti Wheeler and Kyle Ellis were inside the business. Upon entering the business the suspects shot both Ellis and Wheeler numerous times. Both Ellis and Wheeler died on scene. One suspect has been indicted for their murder, however at least one other suspect remains at large. The suspect charged is identified as, Jerry Tyrone Jones, B/M 02/28/89.

On Friday, August 19, 1983, the bodies of Joan Zwingman and Christine Pilczak were recovered from the Chesapeake Bay by the Coast Guard and transported to the Coast Guard Station on Ferry Road. Pilot Boat operators had notified the Coast Guard of two bodies floating in the water. Investigators were able to discover both victims traveled from New Jersey to Virginia Beach to attend a convention related to their employment. The victims had been seen the night before, August 18, 1983 at 7:00 pm. Both women were not wearing clothing made for swimming. They had sustained injuries prior to their death. The bodies were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. Joan and Christine died from drowning and the case ruled a homicide. Joan Zwingman was a 26 year old white female who had green eyes and long brown hair. She was 5’ 6’’ tall weighing 141 pounds.
