Cold Case Spotlight

Update: April 2017 - A 23-year-old Lakeland man was sentenced to 13 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Jamal Fleming. A Polk County grand jury indicted Sidney Lee Mells on first-degree murder in January 2016 in the death of Jamal Fleming two years earlier. Fleming, 33, was pumping gas at a Chevron station on Memorial Boulevard in Lakeland when he was shot once in the head. Mells faced a life sentence had he been convicted of first-degree murder.
