Between December 7th and 8th, 1979, 59-year-old Ray Sheffield was struck and killed by an unknown vehicle at the Silver Hill Cemetery located on Henry Road in Frostproof. His left front trouser pocket was turned out, indicating a possible robbery motive. Sheffield picked oranges in the Frostproof area, and was last seen with two Mexican males the day before his body was found.
