On October 9, 1990, in the mid morning hours, CCSO was called to Don Pedro State Park off the coast of Cape Haze after a homemade mullet fishing boat was discovered near the mangroves with a dead body inside. A second body was discovered floating in the water nearby. Both victims were found to have been shot with small caliber weapons. The victims' boat was seen entering this area around 8:30 AM. A green-colored mullet boat with two white male occupants in their 30's, was seen leaving the immediate area at a high rate of speed between 9:30 AM and 9:45 AM. John Stanley Smith was born on 7/12/58 and was 32 years old at the time of his death. He was a white male. Case # 201550000589 Date: 02/01/2015 Time: 0746 hours Location: Open field located on South side of West 14th Street, 200 yards west of Oleander Avenue (Goldsboro) Sanford, FL 32771 Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds Manner of Death: Homicide Motive: Suspected Robbery/ Witness Retaliation On February 1st, 2015 while on routine patrol a Sanford Police Officer encountered a suspicious vehicle, described as a grey 2003 Ford Taurus, parked in a field on West 14th Street. Upon approaching the vehicle the Officer observed the rear driver’s side vent window to be shattered and what appeared to be a bullet hole in the front driver’s side window. Upon further investigation, a black male was discovered deceased in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The deceased was identified as Rodney Medlock. It was discovered that Medlock was a recent witness in a Federal case against multiple people in the Goldsboro area. Medlock had also recently possessed a large amount of cash, which was not located. Cold Case Spotlight

In the early morning hours of December 24, 2006, Timothy Hart, 28, was walking home from work with three female friends. One of the women was Timmy’s pregnant girlfriend. As they walked eastbound in the alley in the 3100 block of West 63rd Street in Chicago, IL, two men approached the group and demanded their belongings. Timmy advised the women to throw their purses and run. A struggle ensued with Timmy and the assailants while the women tried to escape. Timmy was able to get free and started to run. At that point gunfire erupted and Timmy was struck in the head as he tried to get away. Timmy’s pregnant girlfriend was also shot; she and Timmy’s unborn son survived. No arrests have been made as some witnesses have refused to come forward. Timmy’s Christmas Eve murder has haunted those that knew and loved him, including ruining the family’s favorite holiday. Timmy was taken from his two children, one he never even got to meet. Timmy’s sister, Stacy, raised Timmy and now takes care of his two children while desperately trying to get witnesses to come forward in hopes of solving Timmy’s death. Stacy also works to bring attention to gun violence in Chicago and throughout the country.
