On November 19, 1980, between 4:30 a.m. and 5:21 a.m., 50-year-old Thomas Craft was driving to work at the St. Joe Paper Company located on SR 60 in Lake Wales, when approximately 5 miles east of Wahneta and 1.5 miles east of S.R. 559, he was shot. He was likely carrying a large amount of cash when he was killed.
