On April 20th, 2009, two unknown black males forced their way into the apartment after identifying themselves as police. There were several Hispanic males in the apartment at the time. One Hispanic male came out of his bedroom carrying a machete. One of the suspects shot the victim and then fled from the apartment. The victim died as a result of the gunshot wound. UPDATE: Cecil Ford was arrested on December 8, 2016, for his connection in the murder of Lance Morene. On February 23, 2017, Qortez Goshay was also arrested. 

According to the arrest report, Ford and Goshay went to the apartment on the pretense of selling some rims but had planned the robbery, and that Ford fired first before Goshay started shooting. Morene was hit multiple times.
