Cold Case Spotlight

On November 18th, 2007, at 10:15 p.m., police answered a call at the Mission Springs apartments at 5327 Timuquana Road and found 19-year-old Barry Lee Brooks Jr. with a gunshot wound. Rescue took Brooks to the hospital, but he died early the next morning. Police think the crime was related to a robbery and said they`re looking for multiple assailants. Witnesses described them as two men wearing black hoodies with their faces covered by bandanas. The crime scene was near a trash bin at the tree line along Catoma Street. If you have any information, no matter how small you think it is, please call First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-8477. If your information leads to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for this deadly shooting, you could be eligible for a $3,000 reward. Another $1,000 is available for information that leads to the recovery of the gun in this case.

Before succumbing to his injuries Bloom told police that two black men wearing hoods entered his garage around 11pm on July 20, 2012. Bloom said he was struck on the head with a handgun, tied up with an electrical cord and set on fire.
