Cold Case Spotlight

On January 6, 1992 Las Vegas police found Werner Oestreich shot in the back of the head near the intersection of 15th Street and St. Louis Avenue. Investigators believe the suspect was hiding in the back seat of Mr. Oestreich's 1987 4-door Toyota Camry prior to the attack. Mr. Oestreich's car was found burned and dumped at the Charleston Boulevard underpass a short time later and his wallet was discovered in a garbage can outside a local grocery store. Mr. Oestreich, originally from Germany, had no family in the United States but those close to him are still searching for answers. On 11/22/03 at aprox. 1900 hours an employee took the trash out the back door of the business. As the employee was walking back in to the business a black male, wearing a mask, black shirt and black pants, 5`07 struck him from behind and placed a revolver type handgun to his head. The subject then forced the employee back in to the business at gun point. Once inside the business the suspect began yelling "money, money" and shot a round in to the ceiling. The suspect then began taking money from the employees. The suspect then fired two more rounds striking and fatally injuring Jose G. Dantas in the left under arm area. The suspect then fled out the rear of the business in an unknown direction.

Upon arrival, Michael Peisner, w/m 25 years old, was found deceased in the dining/kitchen area as a result of a gunshot wound. Peisner’s girlfriend sustained non-life threatening injuries during the shooting.
