On May 30, 1967 the body was hidden in a drainage canal culvert in the Florida Everglades near Griffin Road and U.S. 27 in unincorporated Broward County. He was a white male with dark brown, curly hair, large acne scars on his face and very bad teeth. He was about 5'9" tall and weighed 165-185 pounds. He was wearing a medium, iridescent blue-gold, long-sleeved, button down Van Heusen shirt with a collar, white Bermuda shorts, black socks and black Thom McCann loafers and black Jockey bikini briefs, size 32-36. He also wore a necklace with beads. He is estimated to be between 35 and 45 years old. Detectives received a tip that the man may have been known as "Tommy Terrific" and that he had an arrest history in Michigan that once landed him in the federal penitentiary. He smoked Salem cigarettes. He wore a gold ring that was found on the body and a door key from McCrory's 5 & 10 Cent was in his pocket.
