Date of Incident : 01-27-2013 Case number : 2013-002852 MSCO Subject : Patrick Mullins On January 27th, 2013 at 1300 hours a missing persons report was initiated for Patrick Mullins, 52 year old white male, by his wife after he failed to return from taking his boat out. Witnesses stated that Mr. Mullins was alone. At 6:10 pm on the 27th a witness reported seeing a boat matching the description of Mr. Mullin's boat traveling from Terra Ceia Bay into Tampa Bay with a single occupant on board. On January 28th, 2013 the US Coast Guard, the Florida Wildlife Commission and Manatee County Sheriff's marine unit began an extensive search and rescue operation to locate Mr. Mullins. The boat was recovered on January 28th unoccupied. On February 5th, 2013 a fisherman found the body of Mr. Mullins in about three feet of water off Emerson Point. The manner of death has not been determined although the cause of death was from a gunshot to the head. On September 26, 2003, at approximately 5:30 am, the Phenix City Police Department responded to the 2300 block of Level Court in Phenix City, Alabama, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, Eric Nelams was located outside of his residence in the carport. Eric sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on the scene. His family has been working with the investigating agency to get justice for their loved one. The case has gone unsolved since 2003 and his family has continued to advocate for Eric.

Cold Case Spotlight

Seveland Cooley’s lifeless body was found on the Riviera Beach Elementary School playground on August 12, 1988 by a school janitor. Seveland, 28, had been shot multiple times and according to an April 1994 article published by The Palm Beach Post, two men were suspected of the shooting. Detectives have never released any suspect information in the case and no arrests have ever been made. Seveland’s family has fought for years to find answers and justice. They have overcome great obstacles along the way. It was almost 5 years after Seveland’s murder that tragedy struck the Cooley family again. On June 3, 1993, Felicia Cooley, Seveland’s sister, was stabbed to death in her own apartment. 10 months later police arrested the man responsible. He was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. Now, more than 28 years after he was shot outside an elementary school in Riviera Beach, Florida, Seveland’s family is hoping someone will come forward and that justice will be served.
