**UPDATE – Arrest Made**

On April 3, 2020, Vanessa “Honey” Malone’s mom, Flora Malone, reached out to us to let us know that an arrest has been made in her daughter’s 2012 murder.

Malone’s picture and a “Cold Case Spotlight” have been on our site since 2015. Her mom, Flora, also contributed to our book, Grief Diaries: Project Cold Case, published in 2016. Flora has been a driving force in making sure her daughter’s case remained in the public eye, including a Facebook page with over 137,000 likes. Flora’s commitment inspires thousands of families of unsolved cases to keep fighting.

According to news reports, 34-year-old Donald Ash was arrested was charged with second-degree murder and, concealing facts and false statements.

18-year-old Vanessa "Honey" Malone was shot multiple times after walking in on a home invasion at an apartment in Stone Mountain, Georgia on October 23, 2012. Witnesses reported that three to six armed men kicked in the apartment door and began robbing the three occupants. Ms. Malone walked in a short time later and was shot and killed. Cold Case Spotlight

Update: Johnny Wayne Johnson was arrested in the murder of Sherry Prather in November 2016. In April 2018, Johnson was sentenced to 20.5 years in prison after pleading guilty to the charges. On October 12, 2012, 43-year-old Sherry Prather was seen talking to two men on motorcycles at Boots & Bottle Tavern on New Berlin Road around 2:20am in Jacksonville, Florida. Surveillance video shows her getting on the back of a motorcycle but she never made it home. A month later a missing persons detective, acting on a tip, found remains, later identified as Sherry Prather, in the woods off Braddock Road about 15 miles west of where the victim was last seen.
