Joseph V. Furando, age 39, of Gilford, CT, was on a business trip in New Hampshire in May 1979. He was last seen in Newton, MA, on May 16, 1979 and had reservations at the Holiday Inn in Portsmouth, NH, for later that evening. Joseph's body was found on Brewer Road just off of Route 150 in Kensington, NH, on May 17, 1979. He was lying approximately 20 feet from his vehicle. An autopsy revealed that he died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.

Deputies responded to a shooting at the Audoubon Village Mobile Home Park. John Bigler was returning home when he was confronted by two unknown black males with handguns demanding money and drugs. Shelva Ferree lived next door to John Bigler and observed the confrontation. She and her boyfriend started to approach John Bigler when one of the suspects shot her and her boyfriend; she died as a result of a gunshot wound, her boyfriend survived. The suspects then shot John Bigler before fleeing the area in a silver, Chevrolet Impala.
