Update: June 2018 - Nearly three years after Daniel Rowe, 20, was robbed and gunned down while taking out the trash behind the Blind Rabbit in Riverside, his family finally has justice.Judge Mark Borello sentenced Erron Coleman, 27, to life in prison for second-degree murder and another life sentence for armed robbery with a deadly weapon, with a minimum 10-year sentence. On July 22, 2015, around 10:00pm Daniel Rowe carried trash out of the Blind Rabbit Burger and Whiskey Bar where he worked in Jacksonville, Florida. In the alley behind the restaurant, near the intersection of King St. and College St. in Riverside, he was approached by two black males intending to rob him. Daniel was shot twice in the head before the suspects fled the scene. Update: April 2017 - A 23-year-old Lakeland man was sentenced to 13 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Jamal Fleming. A Polk County grand jury indicted Sidney Lee Mells on first-degree murder in January 2016 in the death of Jamal Fleming two years earlier. Fleming, 33, was pumping gas at a Chevron station on Memorial Boulevard in Lakeland when he was shot once in the head. Mells faced a life sentence had he been convicted of first-degree murder.
