On October 31, 2007, Miles Day Sawvel III was murdered during a home invasion robbery in Palm Shores. Miles Sawvel, 34, and his girlfriend got home around noon on Wednesday to find two men inside their home on US-1 in Cocoa. At least one of the men pulled a gun and shot Sawvel. Cold Case Spotlight

Officers called to West Beaver Street and North Myrtle Avenue just before 3 a.m. found Tammy Lynn Platt with a gunshot wound. She was rushed to the hospital, but died from her wounds. Police believe that the suspect stepped out into the road and started shooting at the car Tammy was riding in for unknown reasons. A person of interest was named and charged in a separate crime where he used the same weapon that killed Tammy Platt. While there was not enough evidence to charge the suspect with Tammy's death, he was convicted of the other crime and sentenced.
