On Sunday, June 8, 2003 at approximately 6:52 pm, the body of Jay Cecil Thames, a 57 year old white male, was found deceased at his residence located at 1115 SW 3 Ave. He had been beaten to death. The residence is a building with several apartments (a quad). The front door to the residence was found unsecured but there were no signs of forced entry. The victim was known to allow homeless people into his residence. The victim was last seen alive on 06-07-02 downtown by a GPD Detective. Raymond Police responded to 15 Regina Avenue, on November 23, 1993. When the police arrived at the home they found Chelsea Crane, age 2, with a head injury. Chelsea was in the care of Scott Mayo, the boyfriend of Chelsea's mother, Sharon Crane. Chelsea was treated at the hospital and released. On November 28, 1993 Chelsea's mother put her to bed. When her mother checked on her later that night, Chelsea was unresponsive. An ambulance was summoned and Chelsea was declared dead at the hospital. An autopsy revealed that Chelsea died as a result of multiple impacts to the head. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.

Upon arrival, they found Bernard Edwards, w/m, 73 years of age, deceased inside the store. It was reported that two unknown masked individuals beat, robbed, and stabbed the victim.
