Update - September 2021: The Metropolitan Police Department arrest John Carrington, 53, and charged him in the murder of Reginal Gaither. Carrington was also linked to two other cold cases dating back to 1992. He also killed his mother and was arrested in a recent robbery and stabbing incident just a week before being arrested in this case.

On Jan. 29, 2013, a 32-year-old mother was found fatally shot in her Roslindale apartment Carly Jones was discovered by a friend who had dropped off Jones’ daughter from school. When the friend approached the apartment, she noticed the front door had been left open. She instructed the child to wait outside as she entered the home and found the victim deceased. The multiple-family dwelling where Carly lived is located in a quiet residential neighborhood on Fawndale Road. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry in the building’s main entrance or in the apartment. Police believe that Jones knew her killer and that a tenant unwittingly let the shooter in through the main entrance. On July 14th, 2005 approximately 0100 hours, the victim and a friend were sitting in a vehicle, within an apartment complex, located at 6806 N. 50th Street (50th Street just south of Sligh Avenue). An unknown black male, 5ft9, medium build, wearing dark clothing and a dark colored mask approached them. The suspect attempted to rob the victims of their money. The suspect then shot Chad Lynch in the upper torso, killing him. The suspect fled to an unknown destination.
