On Tuesday, 04-15-2014 at 0652, patrol officers were called to assist Fire/Rescue personnel at a call involving a person down. Upon arrival, they located the victim in his late teens or early 20’s. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators learned that on Monday night (04-14-2014) area residents heard several gunshots in the area at approximately 2130 hours (9:30 PM). The police were not contacted about the gunshots. On 04-15-2014 as kids were approaching their bus stop, they located the victim and police were called. Investigation continuing. Cold Case Spotlight

Clifford Backmann, 56, was working alone finishing some construction on an office condominium at 6960 Bonneval Road near the intersection of Philips Highway and J. Turner Butler Boulevard on Saturday, October 10, 2009 when an unknown African American male robbed and shot him. He was able to call 911 and give some details before he died, but not enough to catch his killer.
