On December 23, 1981, 37-year-old Vincent Bartley was shot to death with a small caliber handgun outside the Sunset Beer Garden, located at 140 Ave Y NE in Winter Haven. Bartley had just shot someone else at the bar. After being shot, Bartley was placed inside a vehicle and driven to Bob’s Billiards at the intersection of 1st Street NE and Avenue P NE in Winter Haven, where the car was abandoned with his body inside. On October 26th, 2016 at approximately 8:09 p.m., deputies responded to Strictly Skillz Barber Shop, located at 400 N. Pine Hills Road. #I, in reference to shots being fired inside the business. Upon arrival, deputies located a black male lying inside the business, identified as the business owner, Brian K. Berry. Berry died from his injuries. A second victim, Reginald Trammell, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Based on witness information, a silver four-door older model sedan pulled up in front of the business. A black male suspect exited the vehicle and entered the business, demanding money. The suspect then fired three to five rounds into the business, and left the scene, in the vehicle, toward Pine Hills Road. The suspect was described as a black/male approximately 6’1 to 6’3 with a thin build. During this incident, the employees also described a similar suspect who had entered the business on 10/22/2016 who waved a gun around and left. This incident was not reported to law enforcement. Case # 201550000589 Date: 02/01/2015 Time: 0746 hours Location: Open field located on South side of West 14th Street, 200 yards west of Oleander Avenue (Goldsboro) Sanford, FL 32771 Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds Manner of Death: Homicide Motive: Suspected Robbery/ Witness Retaliation On February 1st, 2015 while on routine patrol a Sanford Police Officer encountered a suspicious vehicle, described as a grey 2003 Ford Taurus, parked in a field on West 14th Street. Upon approaching the vehicle the Officer observed the rear driver’s side vent window to be shattered and what appeared to be a bullet hole in the front driver’s side window. Upon further investigation, a black male was discovered deceased in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The deceased was identified as Rodney Medlock. It was discovered that Medlock was a recent witness in a Federal case against multiple people in the Goldsboro area. Medlock had also recently possessed a large amount of cash, which was not located.
