Arnold Hayes was running for Maries County Sheriff in July, 1972 when he was ambushed, shot and killed while sitting outside his home in South Central Missouri. On October 14, 1979 a burned body was discovered in a severely fire damaged Subaru station wagon located in a gravel pit off from Gould Road in South Weare, NH. The victim was identified to be Kenneth Jache, age 28, through dental records. It was determined Kennedy's death was due to multiple gunshot wounds and that he had been killed prior to the fire.
