Cold Case Spotlight

On October 6, 2008, Stephen Douglas Wiggins, 56, was found, bleeding and unresponsive, on the roadside in the area of 5100 Colonial Avenue by police responding to reports of gunshots. He was pronounced dead at the scene; no suspects have been identified. It is believed that Mr. Wiggins had left Mattie's Landing bar on Lake Shore Blvd shortly before his murder. He was only a few blocks from his house when he was shot multiple times just feet from his, still running, parked car, the driver side door left open. Robbery does not appear to be the motive as Mr. Wiggins' wallet was found on him. Cold Case Spotlight

On March 4, 2002 deputies responded to an apartment fire at the Cypress Club Apartments on Rouse Road in East Orange County. Investigators soon learned that the fire was set in an attempt to cover up the murder of 23 year old Alesha Dorothy Suarez. A witness told investigators that he observed a white male in his late teens running from the apartment building moments after hearing the fire alarm. Investigators believe Alesha may have known her assailant because there was no sign of forced entry into her second floor apartment.
