William Hart was a Police Officer for the city of Hallandale Beach. On December 21, 1982, at approximately midnight, Officer Hart, who was off-duty at the time, was located in front of his residence at 209 SE 9 Court Hallandale Beach, Florida with a gun-shot wound to the head. The investigation revealed a neighbor/witness heard some yelling coming from an unknown area outside of his apartment and then soon after heard a loud noise similar to a firecracker exploding. The neighbor exited his residence and discovered Officer Hart lying on the ground with his head in a pool of blood.
