On June 20, 2008, at around 9:23 a.m., an unknown suspect entered Rightway Foods located at 404 US Hwy 17-92 North in Davenport, where 54-year-old Jashavantlal Patel worked as a clerk. The suspect attempted to rob the store and pointed a gun at Patel. When Patel reached under the counter for a pipe, the suspect shot him one time. The incident was captured by the store's surveillance system.
