On March 5, 1980 unidentified human remains were discovered in a wooded area south of Hillsboro Boulevard and west of Powerline Road in unincorporated Broward County near Deerfield Beach. The victim was a white male with long, blond hair. He was about 5'6" - 5'7" tall. He was wearing a brown and orange International Collection corduroy jacket with a fur inner lining, a yellow Sportswear t-shirt, brownish-grey corduroy pants with a brown belt and brown desert boots. He was estimated to be between 23 - 28 years old. The remains were skeletal and the body was wrapped in a blanket. Bernice Courtemanche, age 17, was last seen at approximately 3:30 p.m. on May 30, 1984 in Claremont, NH. She was reported missing the following day. Her skeletal remains were found nearly two years later, on April 19, 1986 just off Cat Hole Hill Road in Newport, NH. She had been stabbed to death.

During the evening of April 2, 1993, an altercation between Dennis Wayne Boone and an unknown Hispanic male occurred. The unknown Hispanic male fired a handgun several times.
