On the evening of Monday, June 15, 1970, the body of an adult male, an apparent victim of murder, was found in the area of Bronson Field; more specifically in the Bronson Field area east of Perdido Bay and south of Lillian Highway. It is unknown when the victim was killed, but he is believed to have been dead for less than one week. The victim has not yet been identified. The Victim is believed to be a White Male between the ages of about 40 and 50 at the date of his death, about 6'00" and 180 to 200 pounds. On Friday, May 16, 1975 at five minutes past midnight, Police received a call for shots fired in the 200 block of 10th Street. Upon arrival, Joseph Kelly was found suffering from a gunshot. He was transported to Virginia Beach General Hospital where he died from his wound. His body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office where the cause of death was ruled a homicide. A yellow 1972 or 1973 model Chevrolet with large whitewalls was seen in the area occupied by two black males. Investigators have not been able to establish the motive for the shooting. Joseph Kelly was 20 year old white male who was in the U.S. Navy stationed at Dam Neck Naval Base. He was thin built and stood 5’ 5’’ tall weighing 130 pounds, brown eyes and blonde hair.

On February 19th, 2005, at approximately 11:33 pm, deputies were dispatched to the area of South Paul Street near the East West Expressway in reference to a man lying on the roads edge unconscious. The victim was walking back from a nearby store and happened upon a Hispanic male attacking a black female at that location. The victim tried to intervene and was severely beaten; the victim died at the scene.
