Cold Case Spotlight

On August 15, 2013, the Lee County Sheriff Office received a call that a person was found in the area of Leah Court and Meadow Road in Lehigh Acres. Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a deceased male. Detectives arrived and assumed the investigation. The decedent was later identified as Kyle Byrtus: a white male with a date of birth of May 17, 1988. Kyle was a high school star track athlete and student at Fort Myers High School. The death was later determined to be a homicide. The investigation continues.

On April 16, 1974, the badly decomposed body of a female was found in a wooded area off of Rte. 124 in Marlborough. It is estimated that the female was approximately 19-30 years old, 5'4" tall with a stocky build. It is believed the remains may have been there since the latter part of 1973.
