On 4/17/1988, Human remains were found in a wooded area of US 441 and Interstate 10. The remains were later identified as that of Laverne Mack. Laverne had been reported missing on 08/11/1987 by Lake City Police Department. On 4/19/08, at approximately 2328, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the report of someone shot at 3127 Edison Avenue. The victim was found shot, lying on the roadway . She was transported to Shands hospital where she died. According to a witness, the victim was talking with an individual when the suspect, a young black male, rode up on a bicycle. After a few minutes the suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim. The suspect then fled west on Edison Avenue. William Hart was a Police Officer for the city of Hallandale Beach. On December 21, 1982, at approximately midnight, Officer Hart, who was off-duty at the time, was located in front of his residence at 209 SE 9 Court Hallandale Beach, Florida with a gun-shot wound to the head. The investigation revealed a neighbor/witness heard some yelling coming from an unknown area outside of his apartment and then soon after heard a loud noise similar to a firecracker exploding. The neighbor exited his residence and discovered Officer Hart lying on the ground with his head in a pool of blood. The victim Denise Andrea Thornburg was found next to a canal on the west side of County Road 471 on September 22, 1990. She was nude from the waist down. The autopsy revealed that she died as a result of strangulation. She had been drinking prior to her death and frequented the area near Talbot House.
