On Jan. 29, 2013, a 32-year-old mother was found fatally shot in her Roslindale apartment Carly Jones was discovered by a friend who had dropped off Jones’ daughter from school. When the friend approached the apartment, she noticed the front door had been left open. She instructed the child to wait outside as she entered the home and found the victim deceased. The multiple-family dwelling where Carly lived is located in a quiet residential neighborhood on Fawndale Road. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry in the building’s main entrance or in the apartment. Police believe that Jones knew her killer and that a tenant unwittingly let the shooter in through the main entrance. On January 6, 1992 Las Vegas police found Werner Oestreich shot in the back of the head near the intersection of 15th Street and St. Louis Avenue. Investigators believe the suspect was hiding in the back seat of Mr. Oestreich's 1987 4-door Toyota Camry prior to the attack. Mr. Oestreich's car was found burned and dumped at the Charleston Boulevard underpass a short time later and his wallet was discovered in a garbage can outside a local grocery store. Mr. Oestreich, originally from Germany, had no family in the United States but those close to him are still searching for answers.
