On January 1, 1992, 62-year-old Roland Lee Shelton was found dead in an orange grove north of Cox Road in Alturas. He had been shot three times in the head. Shelton was a transient who lived in the woods behind Allen’s Discount Store in Wahneta, and had been drinking prior to his death.
