On December 18 ,1996 , the body of Rita Hogandorf was found in her residence in Tift County Ga. Her body was discovered by firemen who had been responding to a fire in her home. Ms. Hogandorf died of smoke inhalation, manual strangulation, blunt force trauma to the head as well as multiple stab wounds to the back. A gas and oil mixture had been poured in the residence to start the fire. Numerous items are believed to have been taken from her residence.
