Update: July 2020 - William "Billy" Baer, former Jacksonville Sheriff's Office employee, and his ex-wife Melissa Jo Schafer were arrested after forensic genetic genealogy identified them as the individuals whose previously unidentified DNA was found in the Kawaf home.

The victim and his wife were brutally attacked in their home. Kawaf and his wife were transported to a local hospital. Mr. Kawaf died in surgery. His wife survived the attack.
