Cold Case Spotlight

On Monday, June 15, 2009, 23-year-old Cedrick Herbert was shot and killed inside a friends apartment on East Northfield Blvd in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Investigators say Herbert was asleep in the apartment when the unknown suspect(s) forced open the front door. The killer or killers forced Herbert to his knees and executed the him with 3 shots to the back of the head with a small caliber gun. Nothing was taken from the apartment. Anyone with information about the unsolved murder of Cedrick Herbert, or that remembers seeing someone near apartment F-4, a vehicle or any other information is asked to call the Murfreesboro Police Criminal Investigations Division at 893-2717 or Crime Stoppers of Rutherford County at 893-STOP (7867). On June 17,1970, there was an attempted holdup of a Brinks armored car outside of Zayre's Department Store on Beach Blvd. The gunmen ambushed the Brinks messenger as he exited the store. Gunfire was exchanged and the messenger sought safety in the store. The Brinks driver, George Schwender, was struck in the exchange and died. Harry Schenck was shot but survived. Schenck died on February 10, 2006 following complications with the old wounds.
