On April 18, 1981 unidentified human remains were discovered in a drainage ditch along the roadway next to the Homestead Extension of the Florida Turnpike. The victim was a white male with brown hair who was 5'5" and weighed between 130 and 140 pounds. He wore dark green, corduroy trousers with a 28 1/2 inch waist and a medium National shirt. He wore blue or dark green underwear and brown shoes with no socks. The victim was estimated have been in his late 20s to early 30s at the time of death. The victim had three insulin-type syringes in his pockets that may have been used for illegal drugs. He had been dead several months when his body was found. Investigators believe he was probably right handed. He also had poor dental health with several fillings. On August 28, 1989, 29-year-old Nancy Lopez’s body was found in a wooded area off County Road 54 in Loughman. She was nude from the waist down. An autopsy revealed a stab wound to the back, which punctured the lung and aorta, resulting in her death. Lopez was a known prostitute and crack cocaine user.
