On December 17th, 2002 Sanford Police Officers responded to the wooded area located behind 1706 West 13th Street (Rescue Outreach Mission) in reference to a body. The deceased was described as a White male, with brown hair, lying face down, wearing only a red pullover shirt lifted up over his shoulders and a pair of socks. The deceased was covered with a blanket. The deceased was identified as Michael Walker. Walker had suffered numerous stab wounds and cuts to his scalp, neck and upper torso.
