In August of 2000, LANESHIA CROWDER, a 21 year old single mother of two children (seven year old KENNETH CROWDER and two year old LYRIC CROWDER) lived at 270 Henson Circle, Carrollton, GA. On Monday, August 14, 2000, at approximately 10:00 p.m., CROWDER’S body was discovered in her bedroom after no one had spoken with CROWDER for several days. CROWDER’S son, KENNETH, was discovered in the adjacent bedroom. He had been assaulted and was suffering from head trauma. He was airlifted to Egleston Hospital, where he survived his injuries. LYRIC CROWDER was found in her mother’s bedroom unharmed. CROWDER was last known to be alive on Saturday, August 12, 2000. It is believed that sometime after midnight in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 13, 2000, LANESHIA CROWDER was attacked and assaulted, resulting in her death.

Cold Case Spotlight

Update: Johnie Miller, better known as Uncle Louie, was arrested in New Orleans, Louisiana in May 2017. In April 2018, a plea deal was struck in which Miller admitted to murder Freddie Farah. Miller was able to walk free after being sentenced to time served - just 344 days. On May 22, 1974, a shooting occurred at the Grand Park Food Store located at 2361 Kings Road in Jacksonville, Florida. The victim, Freddie Farah, owned and operated the convenient store and was working when he was shot. While giving change to a customer an unknown suspect demanded money, saying "Give it to me" or "This is a hold up". As Mr. Farah moved from behind the cash register the suspect moved in front of it, on the outside of the counter. The suspect then shot Mr. Farah and fled the scene. A witness in the store described seeing a black male run out the door. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Cold Case Unit reached out to Project Cold Case for assistance is publicizing this case in hopes of generating new leads in the investigation.
