On October 5, 2003, 5 P.M., James Thomas was located dead inside of his residence at 115 NW 3 Street # 2 in the city of Hallandale Beach. The investigation revealed that Thomas was stabbed to death. The building manager stated that he last saw James alive on October 4, 2003, at about 8 P.M. On October 5, 2003, 5 P.M, the building manager claims he knocked on James door but received no response. Feeling that it was odd that James did not answer, he retrieved a copy of the door key and entered the apartment locating James on his bed covered in blood. A large knife was also located near James' body. On Sunday, December 30, 1979 at 12:05 am the body of Suzanne Powell, a 20 year old white female, was found at the Atlantic Bank at 3838 NW 13 St. (now known as Wells Fargo) by two women customers. Powell was found shot in her vehicle. She worked for the Majik Market at 4105 NW 13 St. and was making a night deposit for the store when she was killed.
